We have had a bad week. First, our Diesel Toyota van blew the head gasket
last weekend and is still not repaired. Managed to pump lots of water and
antifreeze all over the driveway. At least the head's OK.
This weekend we headed, in the MX5, from Blenheim to Motueka only to split
the top tank of the radiator on the way. At least we stopped before the
guage reached the H end. Had a 1hr 30 min wait for the AA man (busy ANZAC
Day) who took us from Mapua back to Richmond with our car on the back of his
truck. It couldn't be towed as it is an auto. No-one open today so he then
took us to Nelson ($80 +GST) where we managed to find someone willing to
look at it but they did not have the required spare parts. Car had to be
left in Nelson and will not be ready until Tuesday at least.
To add insult to injury, some hoons drove by, slowed down and yelled "You
wouldn't have trouble like that if you bought a Holden!"
Missed a lovely lunch which was waiting for us in Motueka and were supposed
to be participating in the AA car parade celebrating 100 years tomorrow. I
don't think entering the MX5 with it still on the tow truck would be a good
look.
We still have the 4WD Isuzu at home and hope nothing happens to it!
