clutches

Post by Lane/McQuilken » Tue Apr 22, 2003 8:56 pm

Hi there

I need to have the clutch in my MX5 looked at as it has slipped several times
over the last couple of days. Can anyone recommend a repairer in CHCH - and
has any one had problems - or know of potential problems - with clutches. EG
ajustment vs replacement? Also any idea of what we would expect to pay for a
clutch replacement??

Thanks

Just upgraded my clutch to an ACT HD pressure plate
and kevlar disc which cost ~$900. A stock one should
be a lot less - at mx5mania.com.au they're A$485 for
the Mazdaspeed one. Labour at Rotary Power was
$300-ish.

You'll probably want to do the various seals and
bearings while you're in there too. Appco etc will be
(way) cheaper than the Mazda dealers' price.

Adjustment will only help if your clutch isn't
completely engaging (if I'm not wrong...!)

FWIW - my 140km stock 1.8 clutch was still fine...
right up to ~6psi boost !
