I'm having a 'discussion' with some police people about the legalities of
front plates at present. The law is still not clear enough. As you may
know, this is one of my pet peeves.

I'll feed back any results if I find some more info. I've found plenty of
different documents that state different things, but only a few that tie
into enforceable legislation.

Ah! Our brave Police force, out there saving lives again.
If anyone's driving in the Nelson area, be real careful. The Police area
commander has said that there is no speed tolerance and his stormtroopers will
book anyone exceeding the absolute limit, 1km/h, 2km/h over. Fortunately the
rest of the country still has the official 10km/h tolerance.

Bikes don't have front plates!
Camera immunity, at least head on.

Be thankful most of our speedos read fast! Mine is about 4% fast. My Isuzu is
about 6% fast. At least it gives you a little tolerance as, even though I know
that I am doing abot 96km/h at an indicated 100, my brain still tells me to
keep it at the indicated 100.
I checked mine using a GPS. Great toy to play with, and works very well in an
MX5. No roof to reduce the satellite signals.

Grant in Blenheim where most of the cops do show the normal tolerances.

The trailer mounted speed readouts are a cheap way of checking speedo's, if
you have any down there.

My stick on is the same size as a motorbike plate so
if any polinazis pull me over ill argue that. why are
they so hot on front plates for cars?? Ok if there was
no plate then i see the point, but if your running a
stick on that is legible and reflective then that
should be ok. I wish they had a flexible and more
varied plate system like in Sydney where you can get a
little plate for your sports car from the RTA (LTSA)
you just ask for that style.
Darryl what documents are you looking at in regards to
this matter?? If a cop pulls me up ill ask him to
PROOVE the legislation that hes ticketing me for. It
would be good to have a copy of conflicting
legislation to show him and tell him where to go.
Fine for a non original plate $200, Fine for having
worn out shocks, 3 different sizes of tyres and and a
half blind ignorant driver.$00.00. Road safety in NZ
is about revinue, not saving lives and unfortunatly as
more and more propaganda campains are broadcast the
sheep of this country ((human ones) will believe it.
How many people have noticed the increase of people
doing 80 on the open road with a holier than thou
attitude?? where are those air horns i had in the
shed.>

Unfprtunately I know of no documentation to save anyone from this pathetic
revenue gathering law, as it is law.
Did you know in some states in Oz they aren't allowed to use speed cameras
to take photo's of the front of car? This is because the driver could be
identified which brake a law of privacy in which they are taking your photo
without your permission. kind of funny realy
