Braking noise

We have a 1989 MX5 that has developed a load clicking noise from the front
when the brake is applied. This noise comes and goes and seems to be
connected with braking or possible steering. Any answers.

Your noise is most likely a stone caught inbetween the disc and a shield

Could be the pads moving in the caliper. Strip and clean them, reassemble with
brake lube where the pads contact the calipers.
