Has anyone tried the following
I'm thinking of putting a turbo on my 1.6
It has been suggested that I fit a 323 1.8 turbo, computer, injectors,
and sensors then just run low psi
Sounds simple but I'm not sure what hidden things I might come across.
Any advice would be good
Thanks
Sean

hi Sean
nice, but... intake and exhaust manifolds point the
wrong way, distributor fouls the firewall, meaning the
ECU is of no use as well. A bunch of fabrication, or
a kit (AVO/Flyin Miata/Greddy) is the answer
search here for "GTX turbo"
http://www.miataforum.com/cgi-bin/ultim ... ubb=search
... or on your NZPC forums. I had a wee rant there a
while back :p
cheers,
Jeff

Hi Sean.
You cant run the 323 computor as the ignition systems
are different.(the 323 has a distributor.the MX has
dual waste spark coils)If you want a turbo, then the
1800 gtx turbo will be about the smallest youd want to
fit, but spoolup would be good. Im going to run a WRX
or Lancer gsr TD-04 turbo on my system. Im in the
process of making up a "weld el" manifold. Dont bother
getting different injectors, you can run about 6-7 psi
on the stock injectors by using a rising rate
adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and timing set to
6 degrees static. above 6-7 psi youll need an
intercooler and ignition mods.(and clutch and diff)
Check out www.greddyturbofaqs.com for lots of info on
turboing and how to go about upgrading.Or try ringing
Don at Autoway services in Hamilton as he's just
finished his low budget turbo kit on his car.
Hope this helps.
