Hi Folks,
Has anyone ever had their rear brakes stay locked on
long after the handbrake has been released? It's
accompanied by a loud clunk and massive acceleration
when it frees up.
(I think it's the rear brakes, that's where the smoke
smell was coming from.)

You have to take the calipers apart and lube the slider pins reasonably
regularly to prevent this. It is one of the few MX5 maintenance items
that I am actually confident doing myself so it is not very hard :0)
It might need a new caliper/brake pads/rotor and more work if is at that
stage now though...
