Rex, my suggestion, why don't you make the _first_ plea to
abuse@maxnet.co.nz rather than trying to solve PC problems on an MX5
discussion list? Isn't that why ISPs have such an email address?

You may have had your problem solved months ago this way, and also
solved the problem that someone else has on their PC at the same time
(that they are likely unaware of - which is why your first plea was
ignored. Do you really think most users on this list will know what
their dial up IP address is, or whether their Firewall accepts ICMP
packets?).

I've done a similar thing in the past when I got a barrage of spam from
a user's open relay, and the user's ISPs helpdesk was... suprisingly
helpful
