Changing Stud Pattern??

Does anyone know if you can fit the 5 stud hubs directly onto the 4 stud spindles???
I want to fit the new MX5 17'' wheels on my NA model, any ideas???

thought they were still 4 stud rims? Only Ray's car had 5 stud wheels/hubs...
cos they came from an RX7!
