OK, here's a really stupid little question. I need to fit a new set of wiper
blades. Have bought the blades but I'm damned if I can work out how to get
the old blades out and fit the new ones. Thinking I was being stupid, I rang
a mate who said 'wiper blades are stupid fiddly little things and I gave up
trying to do them 15 years ago.' So maybe I'm not on my own here.
Anyway, to save me further embarrassment, does anyone have an idiot-proof
set of instructions for me? It's either that or go to a garage and look as
stupid as I probably am.

Hi Simon
The wiper blades are a bit fiddly, but with some patience and a pair of
bottlenosed pliers, you should soon be a master of it!
There is a U-shaped clip on the right-hand end of each blade - if you pull
this with the pliers it should pop out, and you can then slide the wiper
blade out. Don't lose the clip, as you will need to put it in to stop the
new blades sliding away! The clip is on the top-side of the wiper, about
1cm from the end. When we say right-hand end, that is when you are sitting
in the car, so leaning over the bonnet towards the wipers, it'll be on the
left.
You may need to trim some off the end of the new blades for them to fit.
Hope this helps

Simon, are you in Akl? if so, feel free to pop in to my work in Mt Eden one
day - It is really easy... once someone shows you. Bring a pair of long
nosed pliers & side cutters.
Follow Michaels instructions if the blades have a plastic U Clip. Some
blades use a metal arrow shaped spring that you just need to squeeze with
pliers and it pops back when you slide it in. Some also have 2 stainless
sleeves running the full length that like to fall out (there'll be a
temporary clip, probably red, holding this in), and the blades won't hold
together unless you replace these.
cheers

Thanks, zorruno - much appreciated. I ran out of time this weekend to try the
fiddly bits, so I might drop in sometime. Whereabout in Mt Eden and what is
your phone no?

Many thanks - I ran out of time this weekend to do fiddly things. I don't
think I have a U clip actually - it must be one of those squeezy things
zorrunos mentioned. When it looks like dry weather I will take it apart and
see if I can put it back together again, on the basis that if I can't then
at least I'll be able to drive safely to a garage!
Cheers
