Patrick,

There IS a drain for the roof just in front of the rear wheels. If you
look behind the seat belt towers with your roof up, you will see a
plastic 'funnel'. The water from the roof goes along the rain rail and
down this 'funnel'. It should then come out under the car near the rear
wheels.

This drain gets blocked quite easily and I usually clean mine out by
inserting a piece of garden hose down the 'funnel' and pushing until it
comes out the bottom (usually accompanied by mud and leaves).

My theory is that, when this drain gets blocked, water overflows into the
sill. The sills also have drains that usually get blocked. These drains
are just gaps in the seams that run the length of the car. The drains are
just at the jacking points. I clear these by inserting a screwdriver and
pushing up and wiggling it until the water starts coming out.

When all the drains are blocked, I think water overflows into the foot
well. We had 10 cms of water in there once. Incidentally the foot wells
also have drains which are plugged by a rubber stopper. If you need to
drain water from that area, simply pull back the carpet (from the sides)
and pull out the plug.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Chic
