I fitted a set of KYB's about 12 months ago and have found them to be very
good certainly no issues with the handling. From memory they cost about
$650.00 for the set.

Re-shocks

I know I'll be commiting some form mortal sin for some
people but I'm thinking along the lines of plain old Monroe
shocks. I'm also a member of a Jet Ski technical forum in
the USA and it's the same thing, people wriet in and ask for
cheap options and alll the die hards write back with
information about the most expensive racing options.

So please I'm after advice on any base line Shocks, and
where is the best place to get them, if it costs more than
$500 in parts they ain't gettin changed! Or of course any
advice on what to avoid!!!

Holy crap... just got a price from the shock shop for $800
for four Monroe shocks parts only... wow!!!

Thanks and sorry for filing all your mail boxes. But there
will be more...

Interesting, I went thru this excercise myself a few months back, as I was
considering the club group buy on Konis.

Best prices I could get were in the region of
$1000 Monroes inc fitting
$1200 factory OEM inc fitting
$1300 Koni club buy inc fitting
$1500 Koni no club buy inc fitting

At that point my mechanic reckoned the shocks I had were okay & as I
didn't have that sort of cash lying about, I forgot all about it... (also
needed new tyres, so figured those were more important)...

Have a look thru the list archives, as someone reckoned KYB were okay on
performance & price... any KYB owners dare to comment?

Graeme

Th e club buy on konis was cancelled due to lack of committed buyers.
Give stocks suspension a call in Auckland, Talk to
Andy, he's in the club, see what he can do. non
adjustable KYB shocks are probably your cheapest
(quality) option.

Found this in the archives from discussion late last year:

Also check this site:

I went for the Konis in the end as I felt it was worth paying the extra
(about$250.00) over the cheapest option I could find at the time. I can't do
the work myself so I was looking at the cost of the complete job. If you
don't have to pay for the fitting etc. then your savings should be better
than I could manage if going for cheaper shocks. The fitting costs are the
same for any types.
