Regular v. Premium Unleaded

Post by Andrew Witheford » Tue May 18, 2004 6:32 pm

I've recently switched running my '93 1.8 from regular to premium unleaded,
after hearing from a couple of sources that mileage and power would be
increased. Haven't really noticed much difference in either department.
Any thoughts?

Cheers,

Andrew

Regular v. Premium Unleaded

Just changing the fuel wont do much - advance the timing to 14 deg then you
will notice a change. Even better if you put a cone filter on instead of the
box filter.

Hi, Andrew

I have started running my recently purchased 1990 1.6 on 96 based on advice
from Glynn at City Garage (good work, good prices for MX5 club members). He
indicated that our 96 was about equivalent to the fuel available in Japan
that the engine was designed for - it's been a while since I was in Japan
myself & I certainly wasn't checking out fuel at the time - so I'll take his
word on it.

However - while I didn't run the car for long enough on 91 to get mileage
figures, since being on 96 it certainly feels better to drive - more
responsive. Only seat of the pants impression, however I'm happy to pay the
extra cost for the pleasure. Hope this helps.

Regards,
Greg
