indicators and headlights

Post by alan flatt » Mon Apr 19, 2004 4:33 pm

I am new to the MX5 and loving it. Can any one tell me what the two side
mounted slots are on the front wings. At the moment there are two red
reflector type lenses and no lights. Are they meant to be additional
indicators, and are there different head light units without indicators if
these are used. I would appreciate any help.

Alan,

It sounds like you are talking about the reflectors in the bumpers. Some
markets, including the US do have lights in there, but none have
indicators. I would imagine that they are too far round the bumper to be
legal as your only indicators.

There are two Mazda variations of the sidelight/indicator light unit, but
these just have different combinations of parklights/indicators/daytime
running lights. You can get after market replacements that allow cold air
to enter through the unit, but these too have indicators built in.

Cheers

Chic

indicators and headlights

evening alan!
I too got curious about the reflectors when I got my jellybean, took them
apart and found no lights : so went to Repco, got some 12v trailer lighting
bits, and wired up the red ones at the back to the brakes, and the orange
ones at the front to the indicators. Only 35watt bulbs, but I thought "hey,
better than nothing".
