Cam belt
Hi again
Sorry to fill all your mail boxes with so many questions today, the previous
owner of my car had done about 70-80,000km but did not do the cam belt, so I
guess it's well due. Can anyone recommend somewhere in Auckland that's nice
and CHEAP!!! (in fact they don't need to be nice at all
Cheers

You may wish to consider other work that may be required to be carried out
at the same time.
As I had my cambelt replaced along with; @115,000 km
1. belt tensioners rollers
2. all the seals
3. all the other belts
4. rad. hoses
5. the water pump as if it failed in the future you still would have to
remove the cambelt to access
the pump.
.. and had the front discs replaced and the seized rear brakes repaired
and bleed.
That costed $1,500!!! major budget blow out. The quote for just the cambelt
only was approx $500.
But at least it was a job well done, and no one complains about good quality
workmanship...
remember... if it's cheap... will they know of the associated problems with
earlier NA models which had camshaft failure as a result the incorrect
manner a certain 'pin' is re inserted the wrong way around?

I was a Computer Engineer for twenty four years. Started on mainframe about
1978, got out a couple of years back when the little PCs became so
mind-numbingly boring. So I feel suitably qualified to make the following
observation about the text below. 'Strings', 'threads'... who cares!!
