New Shell Flybuys Point Scheme
New Shell Flybuys Point Scheme
Dear Martin Foye
Shell Loyalty Manager
Thank you for informing me by post of your new Fly-buys scheme.
It is blatantly obvious why you are introducing this new scheme. Your
company isn't satisfied with making record breaking profits, you also
seek to reduce the Fly-buy points you must "in effect" pay for. This of
course increases substantially as you raise the price of petrol, which
is rapidly climbing at the pump!
Obviously you have selected, after a comprehensive analysis, monthly
litre quantities that ensure the bonus Fly-buys you pay out reduce the
total number of Fly-buys you will end up paying for.
Bottom-line:
* Your new scheme SUCKS
* You're GREEDY BASTARDS
Feel free to email me back. In the mean time, as a result of this new
scheme I will no longer purchase gas from ANY of your petrol stations in
New Zealand as long as the scheme remains in-effect.
PS: Through this email, using the bcc feature, I have notified EVERY
person AND organisation, including car clubs and news commentators, in
my contact list of your intentions.

Gracias amigo.
Apparently, according to the literature I received in the mail and I
quote: "This trial is being run with a select group of Shell customers.
It will not be advertised elsewhere."
I might be forgiven for thinking that my:
ex-wife, her lawyer, 4 other prominent Auckland lawyers, 2 Body Corps, 4
tenants (2 current, 2 former), my former married girlfriend's husband,
and this list knows by now:
I do not play by the rules . I change how the game is played!

See below the email I have received from Shell. Want to bet the ranch
that "points will be credited to your membership account at the end of
the trial", wasn't part of the game plan???
Please note this has been forwarded separately to a member of the Club
Committee, so that he may forward it on to the list, i.e. those who have
decided to "delete or spam" my contribution.
As I stated in an earlier email which no doubt was also "delete or spam"
by some list members:
What a list member failed to take into consideration, when he earlier
offered a short-sighted response involving what I'll call the "gas tax
affair" is this:
* A government ministry and the party that leads it at any one
time, at best considers the public views every 3 years, and depends on
voter apathy to sustain their position of power
* A company owned by shareholders on the other hand, is more
vulnerable to public opinion and anything that might result in having a
negative impact of their potential to earn a profit
Consequently, group actions against companies tend to have a far better
'rate of success' than those against government ministries, unless of
course it involves blatant corruption . or micro-chipping a farmer's
mutt!
PS to Eric West: I would have forwarded this on to you directly as well
as David, but have somehow misplaced your personal email address. Please
forward it again.

Bill

Dear Martin
Thank you for taking on board my feedback, and for investing what I'm
sure is your valuable time to respond to it.
Given your expressed willingness to "alter" the manner in which you
intend to conduct your "supposed trial" I will continue to, and suggest
to others who I originally informed, to also continue to purchase petrol
from your stations.
However, please be advised:
1. I will continue to base fuel purchases on the "non-trial" scheme
2. I will track precisely the points I should be earning under the
"trial" scheme and would have earned under the "non-trial" scheme
3. I will make you wish that you and your department never dreamed
up this new point scheme if either
* You do not award me Fly buy points you will undoubtedly owe to
me
* You subsequently, even at some later time, implement nationally
this new scheme which both mathematically and statistically
disadvantages your customers, and thus clearly works against their
interests
Be assured it would be unwise for you and your organisation to
underestimate the impact that my personal commitment, determination and
tenacity, which is well-known in the USA, NZ and globally, can have. I
hope I have made my position vividly clear. Also, please be advised,
this email is being bcc'd to the same national and INTERNATIONAL
distribution lists at my disposal, which are extensive, as my earlier
email to you was.
Yours faithfully
