Hmmm just another thought, it could be that some damage was sustained to the
side with the newer mirror and the previous owner just grabed a door off a
newer model from the wreckers...

Yup, that's just what I was thinking. Maybe the door skin will be the same and the mirror mounting attachment apertures ( :0) will be the same for all NA models. Perhaps an older mirror will just bolt straight on.

We have been having a thread as regards content. Here we have a perfect example of a benifical discussion. I have a 92 and a 96 and never even noticed the mirrors were different! I just thought my 96 looked better because it was a special ed.I also learned from you that they are electric! How unobservant can I be? Thanks Richard
