Soft Top and Frame

Post by e-admin » Thu Apr 06, 2006 9:20 pm

Greetings Mike,

My Soft-top has a couple of minor holes along the edge, which leads to
it leaking :-(

I'd be very keen to take a look at it if its not already gone!

Im assuming its not terribly difficult to swap softtops?

Kind regards

Joe

Hi all

I replaced my MK1 black soft top with a new hood and frame. I was going
to bin the old one in the inorganic collection but if anyone wants it
they can have it for nothing.

The frame is in perfect condition, the top doesn't have any holes or
rips but is original (16 years old). The rear window is okay but old.
The rubbers and seals are there. The rain rail has some cracks at the
ends.

It does not come with the latches as I've reused those on the new one.

If your top is stuffed and you need a temp one, this could be okay.

I've also got some standard 1990 springs (with shocks) x 4 if anyone
wants them for $50.

Cheers
Mike.

Mike,
Just out of curiosity, how much did the new hood and frame cost?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Joe

You are welcome to come and take it away.

It's not too tough to remove the old top. About 15 nuts and bolts. The
rain rail can be a pain as it is riveted to the top and the one on there is
pretty much stuffed.

This may be better for a project / bits rather than a swap, but if you want
it, please come and take it off my hands.

I'm in Greenhithe, North Shore.

Cheers
Mike.

zorruno...
May i remind you that the committe is funded by the
members of this club that pay fees. I even "donate"
money to keep things like this going, but am afraid
that the new rules are somewhat communist in thier
approach.

Can you please tell me then why my email was locked
out for 3 days last week as spam???

I guess it is very easy to blame the filters but its
too coincidental it makes me think otherwise.

I feel as this is a growing attitude in the club as it
gets bigger that everyone must not be offended and
that the club has no standing on any matter
whatsoever, and will do its utmost to remain absolutly
respectable to everyone no matter what,(BORING!!!)
This is exactly how the Automobile Association has
become the Whipping boy of BP and the government.
Who can honestly say that the rubbish that comes from
them (AA) is representitve of its members. they are
too busy making al the right noises just so they keep
their place.
I feel as if this attitude is spreading into this
club, despite the very best and honourable intentions.
