Enjoyed a brief convoy a deux this afternoon heading north on the southern
motorway. Got on at Otahuhu & was greeted by a cheery toot as I merged.
And no I wasn't sideswiping anyone !

A very smart-looking NA was zooming along in the right lane absolutely
gleaming in the sun. Nice wheels, great paint (not sure if it was original
or a subtle metallic BRG), spoiler, clear side reflectors - that's about all
I could take in.

Travelled together until I departed into the city.

I've also had several other drivers wave back at me of recent times (g'day
KREE), so waving ain't dead yet !

I'm glad waving is catching on up north!

I always have my hood down in sunny Christchurch!! and give some sort of
acknowledgment to any other 5'er but very rarely get more than ignored.

I get more looks and comments from non 5'ers! especially at 1130 at night
coming home from work!

Thought you'd like a waving "funny" for a change!

A few weeks ago we did the Albany Ladies Sunday time trial. Great fun. Down
one fairly long straight, deep in the Albany countryside we waved at a red MX
coming towards us and they indeed waved back. Then we had a horrible thought
"what if we are going the wrong way?" because the instructions certainly
didn't look as though we came back on ourselves. We continued to follow the
instructions and arrived safely at the next checkpoint (with much relief!).
This is where we came to the conclusion:
1.. Either THEY were lost! Or
2.. They had nothing to do with the MX5 club outing
After a fine lunch with everyone else at the pub we decided they must have
been option 2 and just didn't know what they missed out on...!

Cheers

PS I doubt my wife will let me drive the next time trial as we probably broke
the stage 4 record!! Well it was so much fun throwing it around all those
twisty little bends...(course we weren't speeding Brian!)

Cheers, Graham - I thought I'd seen the car before but just couldn't place
it - we chatted briefly at the tech day at Glynn's City Garage if I recall.

Keep waving
