A Politician with a backbone?

Post by MadMaz » Wed Feb 08, 2006 7:53 pm

Hi Bert

A politician with a backbone? From my knowledge they became extinct in New
Zealand after Michael Joseph Savage if history tells me rightly.

If you want to make a difference, you have to be prepared to stand up for
yourself these days.

So I'd invite you to put your name to my letter to the Transport Safety
Minister David Parker as a little start. The only way you'll truly get
anything out of a politician that's of real benefit to ordinary people, is to
light a fire under his/her proverbial.

Cheers

A Politician with a backbone?

Fantastic Bert - will do.

Don't worry, the letter to the Transport Safety Minister is only the first
step - I'll pester his office to get a quick reply - because sometimes it can
take months. I can pretty well guess the initial tack he's going to take and
I'll post it here.

Then I'll invite members for their thoughts and suggested inputs for a reply -
then take straight it back to the Minister. And again until we get a proper
and sincere result.

I've used this approach before with politicians - and believe me it works.
The more people involved, together with their input, the better.

If you haven't read the letter to be sent to the Minister, feel free to ask
for a copy using my own e-mail address to avoid clogging the list - and feel
free to use my address to register your willingness to put your name on it,
again to avoid clogging the list. And to send all your comments -they're all
welcome.

I think everyone's just about had enough of ineffective government that no
longer takes any notice of the concerns of ordinary people. And the issue of
fuel and roading taxes and lack of driver training are very serious ones -
affecting every one of us when it comes to our safety on the roads. So we
make a start here.

So come on folks - post your vote - post your name. This is just a little
opportunity to stand up as ordinary people and give them something to think
about. There's 9 names to date on the letter after 4 days with 3 days to go
and I think that's a fantastic response.

Cheers all
Mark
