Where are all the Tauranga MX5s?

Post by Stevo » Sun Jan 29, 2006 7:57 am

I live in sunny Tauranga after moving over from the Naki 13 months ago but I
see very few MXs on the roads over here compared to New Plymouth. I mainly
just use mine (gold NB) in the weekends but very rarely see another on the
roads.
Im building a new house in Welcome Bay and see quite a few on Welcome Bay road
but thats about it, hardly any in the city or at the Mount.
I did see a new red NC for the first time yesterday on 15th ave. Veeerrrry
nice.
Oh well its a nice day so out I go to clock up another 100kms (top down of
course)
Cheers Stevo

Hi Stevo,
I can assure you there are quite a few of us around here! I guess we all
can't be on theroad at the same time. I'm in Cherrywood, and it's a rare
occasion if I don't see another when I head off into town. My last one
(metallic green NA) went out to Ohauiti, and we quite often see it in the
city.

Where are all the Tauranga MX5s?

Ok. I went out in my MX5 at 9.30am this morning, drove all over Tauranga and
the Mount picking up gear for the new house and delivering to the site at
Welcome Bay. Got home at 7pm tonight, did approx 200km all within the city
limits and saw only one MX5, coincidently it was also a gold NB on Fraser
street, and the lady driver gave a big wave. Good on ya. Enjoy your cars in
this great weather.
Cheers Stevo

Hi Steve, you could try coming to one of our club get togethers, 4th Thursday
of the month, 6pm at a local cafe. Next one will be 23rd Feb somewhere in
Tauranga, if you're a club member you should be notified by email, if not let
me know and I can give you the details closer to the time. We usually get
18-20 turn up, including the owners of the red NC!
Vince.

Thanks Lloyd, Glen and Vince.
Thanks for your replies. As mentioned previously, I have recentlymoved up from
the NAKI and am building our new house up in the Welcome Bay Hills. This is
taking up 6 days of my week at present and half of sunday is spent working on
the lawns & gardens of the place we are in at Pyes Pa. Evenings are spent
doing the paper work.
Very little time for driving the MX unfortunately but hope to start again and
re-join the club once we have moved in.

Welcome Bay must have the highest ratio of MX5s on a per capita basis. Tonight
on my way home from the site, I saw a BRG heading up Waikite road, I km
further down Welcome Bay road was another BRG, another 500mt was a silver NA
then at the end of the road was a white NB thats 4 within 3km. Almost better
odds than Toyota Corollas?
Hope to meet all the locals in due course but if you see a gold NB around, be
sure to give us a wave.
Cheers Steve
