Bose CD player/TV/Navigation sys

Post by Stevo » Sun Jan 29, 2006 7:50 am

Hi All.
I have had my Gold NB for about 2 years now but have a couple of problems with
the CD player. It is a Double Din Bose with LCD screen, TV and nav system.
Firstly I cannot find out how to change the time on the clock, Ive tried all
the usual methods but no luck. I hope that some one has the same head unit and
can help out on that one.
Secondly it has a Panasonic stacker in the boot that was working but when I
try to use it now, it wont work, all I get is some type of error message that
comes up on the head unit in Japanese that I cant understand. I do not know
whether its a problem with the changer or the head unit or the interface
between them, what I do know is that technicians charge heaps just to look at
them and even more to fix it.
I would just replace the changer if I could ascertain thats where the problem
was.
Any advise would be appreciated. Cheers Stevo

Probably not the answer you want but I would recommend removing it
altogether and replacing with a New Zealand new unit. Unless your technician
has the service manual for your particular radio then it will be very time
consuming to try and repair the unit and not economical.
With a New Zealand new unit you will get much better radio performance as
you won't need one of those awful band expanders plus you will get coverage
of the whole FM band. AM performance will also be much better due to the
lack of the band expander. The LCD display you have will be of very little
use at present as the TV system I assume is not PAL so won't work correctly
here and you probably can't use the NAV system either without NZ data.
My NB had the single DIN Bose system in it and I removed it as the audio
quality was very poor. I replaced the door speakers with 200mm subs and left
the door mid / tweeters there. The Bose bass speakers will only work with
the Bose amplifier. The head unit I chose has MP3 capability so don't need a
stacker. Removing the stacker will increase the boot capacity as well!
I now have a good sounding system with good receiver performance on FM and
AM. I have kept the Bose head unit (and speakers) so it can be re-installed
if ever required (most unlikely). Each MP3 CD gives me about 10 hours of
music as well. The Bose amplifier I left installed but disconnected as it
wasn't worth the effort to remove.
