Forum vs list

Post by MX5PWR » Mon Jan 23, 2006 8:55 pm

As a regular reader and contributor to the current list, I for one would
prefer to stay with the current set up.
I don't have time to log onto a forum and check every thread to see if
someone has asked a question that I might be able to help with. At least with
the list you generally just have to look at the subject heading and go from
there. I say generally, where this comes un stuck is where a member replies
on a current subject but changes the subject completely. If you want to change
the subject, change the heading!!

Ok the forum makes it easier if you want to look up a particular topic, but
even they get off track.

Apart from recent postings, the list is a very informative way of learning
about our cars.

Forum vs list

Hi
I've got to say that I agree with Nigel on this. I have subscribed to the forum, but would like to see this list continue.
It's easy to use and informative. Maybe very interesting and relevant info threads could be transferred and kept as permanent topics on the forum...such as tyre sizes and turbo tips etc.

Forum vs list

Me too.
I like the speed and convenience of the list. I can't be bothered with the
forum as it's too slow to get around (and I have a 2Mb ADSL connection).
I'll keep looking at it though for now but imagine I'll just finish up not
bothering to look there.

Grant.

I must say that on first joining the list, I thought it was an odd idea
which I didn't expect to be very good...but I prefer it to a forum system.
My only thing would be I would LOVE for the search function on the website
to work so you can search for accurate results in past discussions, instead
of having to go to google each time, doing advanced search from the mx5 club
website. It isn't a huge deal, just a bit more of a hassle. Although a forum
can be more organized especially to view past subjects, this is so easy as
it is all mailed right to you!! It is also easy to find if you have been
given help on something, you don't have to search the forum for it, just go
to your inbox and print off the email!
