BEAT THE FUEL PRICE
BEAT THE FUEL PRICES!!
Join the resistance!!! Do you want petrol prices to come down? We
need to take some intelligent, united action.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain
day" campaign that was going around last April or May!
The oil companies just laughed at that because they
knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by
refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience
to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever
thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can
really work. Please read on and join with us!
By now you're probably thinking fuel priced at about $1.00 is super cheap.
Me too! It is currently $1.55 Ltr for regular unleaded.. Now that the oil
companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us
to think that the cost of a Litre of gas is CHEAP at $1.00, we need to take
aggressive action to
teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace. not sellers. With the price
of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The
only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone
in the pocket by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT
hurting ourselves.
How?
Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN
have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.
Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline
from the biggest company MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will
be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other
companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach
literally millions of Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do!
Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how
simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to 30
people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and
those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 =
3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of
people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers...Most of New
Zealand !!! Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people.
That's all! (If you don't understand how we can reach 3 million and all you
have to do is send this to 10 people...
How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten
more people within one day of receipt, all 3 MILLION people could
conceivably be contacted within the next few days!!! I'll bet you didn't think
you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a
difference.
If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we
not buy from /MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.00 RANGE AND
KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

Sorry, this group is "inert" when it even comes to a petrol company
reducing the Fly-buy points they can earn!
I had more "well done" responses from people overseas than from this

May I suggest you re-read my letter to them which was copied to the
list. I am more than confident it is self explanatory ... well at least
a substantial number of people overseas, who don't live here or haven't
even ever visited NZ, were capable of grasping what Shell is up to.
Perhaps I've identified the problem: No one on the list could grasp its
message??? Candidly, I doubt that. Instead, I might be forgiven for
thinking, like I said: this group is "inert" ...

Give it a break Bill, I consider myself to be reasonably intelligent, but
having not seen the Shell flyer, I have no idea what you were getting at in
your letter!!!
If you consider this list to be "inert" and less responsive than overseas
people, then unsubscribe and solve your problem.

Bill,
The reason that you may not have received many replies is that your letter
is poorly constructed, rude (as normal), and most intelligent people on this
list don't support writing letters to businesses with such constructive
arguments as "your new scheme SUCKS"
It is amazing that someone who made such a huge issue about how useless it
was to write to a Member of Parliament thinks he will change the business
practice of Shell by writing to them calling them greedy bastards.
oh - and from your other comment ... I think that the reason you dont play
by the rules is that you simply dont understand the game.

Dear Martin Foye
Shell Loyalty Manager
Thank you for informing me by post of your new Fly-buys scheme.
It is blatantly obvious why you are introducing this new scheme. Your
company isn't satisfied with making record breaking profits, you also seek
to reduce the Fly-buy points you must "in effect" pay for. This of course
increases substantially as you raise the price of petrol, which is rapidly
climbing at the pump!
Obviously you have selected, after a comprehensive analysis, monthly litre
quantities that ensure the bonus Fly-buys you pay out reduce the total
number of Fly-buys you will end up paying for.
Bottom-line:
- Your new scheme SUCKS
- You're GREEDY BASTARDS
Feel free to email me back. In the mean time, as a result of this new scheme
I will no longer purchase gas from ANY of your petrol stations in New
Zealand as long as the scheme remains in-effect.
PS: Through this email, using the bcc feature, I have notified EVERY person
AND organisation, including car clubs and news commentators, in my contact
list of your intentions.

I might be forgiven for thinking, yours Nigel, is the "classic" Kiwi
response to an unwillingness to look beyond your own nose, and
acknowledge your short comings. Perhaps that is why a Senior Exec only
today stated to me "unfortunately Bill, the tall poppy syndrome is a
live and well in NZ".
If you Nigel, can't assimilate my e-mail's contents, your employer (and
we both know who that is) is in trouble! (Don't worry mate your secret
is safe with me) lol, lol, lol
For the record: when it comes to sharing advice, information and at
times assistance (such as yourself Nigel) this list EXCELS. When it
comes to taking action that might benefit the collective group and
beyond . it's INERT!
BTW Nigel, there is at least one other and I suspect two other major car
clubs here in NZ that are already acting on my email. Funny that, their
leaders didn't have any trouble understanding my email. Of course many
in that club's membership do refer to MX5ers as "hairdressers", which of
course they know me not to be . and I assure them a number of
individuals in the club/list are anything but of that "persuasion".
"I think he would have significant difficulty doing anything. I always
thought that his actually managing to walk, one foot in front of the
other, was a major achievement in life."

response to an unwillingness to look beyond your own nose, and
acknowledge your short comings. Perhaps that is why a Senior Exec only
today stated to me "unfortunately Bill, the tall poppy syndrome is a
live and well in NZ".

I might be forgiven for thinking, yours Nigel, is the "classic" Kiwi
response to an unwillingness to look beyond your own nose, and
acknowledge your short comings. Perhaps that is why a Senior Exec only

Give it a break Bill, I consider myself to be reasonably intelligent, but
having not seen the Shell flyer, I have no idea what you were getting at in
your letter!!!
If you consider this list to be "inert" and less responsive than overseas
people, then unsubscribe and solve your problem.

BEAT THE FUEL PRICE
I did read your letter a number of times and gather the amount of petrol
required per Fly-buy point has changed. That is self explanatory. What I was
curious about (as a non Shell customer) was what was the situation before
and what is it now? I do suffer from attacks of stupid at times but I
thought it was a reasonable question in light of you asking whether anyone
(on the list) had read your message as I thought it was also a way of
letting you know you weren't ignored
I am concerned about the price of fuel as the owner of four vehicles
covering around 80,000km per year.
I happen to be a BP customer as the AA rewards are of more use to me than
Fly-buys.
I think I will now revert to my former inertness on this matter.
