I am with AMI and they want a $1200 excess for theft without an immobilizer,
a dual immobilizer. This is partly because I can not garage the car, I have
a TR7 convertible in the garage (I think this is the car Mazda got all the
ideas from). I will look into fitting one my self because I would like a
discrete, tidy installation.
I am still interested in locating a good mechanic, preferably closer to west
Auckland.

Hi,
Before you install alarm and immobilizer by yourself, I suggest double check
if it is accepted by AMI. I'm not with AMI but I was asked if that is
installed by the certified professional. They usually gives you
certificate and extended warranty if it was done by certified person.
