A new font for motor vehicle registration plates has been unveiled.
The 20-year old character set of embossing dies at plate manufacturer
LicenSys needed replacement and LTNZ has taken the opportunity to introduce
the new KiwiEuro font, initially for General Issue plates, to be followed by
Trailer,Motorcycle, Personalised and Trade plates.
The characters were drawn up in-house by David Beach of LTNZ, and display a
chunkier style with 8mm shorter characters than at present, with a new shape
slashed zero, and serifs on letter D and numerals 1 and 5.
The rationale for the new lettering is "tamper proof with better readability
for enforcement purposes". Plates with this font should start appearing on
our streets very soon. Ross.

Thanks Ross.
And yet the idiots at LTNZ still cant make a plate for
sportscars, even though there is similar plates in
Australia,(many of the NZ personalised plates are
stamped in Aus, so there is NO reason they cant do
sports plates like NSW has.)
Any one know who to E mail about this??? who was
involved in getting the new plates designed/approved???

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Im guessing that there will a few of us mx5ers going
to the Rolling Stones on Easter sunday and was
wondering whether we should have an afternoon picnic
at western springs while we wait for the gates to be
opened, could be a good way to stave off the boredom
of waiting.
What do you think???
