1.8l front brake caliper brackets
I'm looking for a pair of front caliper brackets from a 1.8l model MX5 in order to upgrade the brakes on my MX5.
Does anyone have a spare set they will sell?

I ordered off Ross this week, guess he is busy.RMS wrote:I emailed Ross but I guess he's on holiday, had to get the car moving in a hurry so I've just thrown some stock 1.6 rotors and pads on instead, brake upgrade will have to wait

I have done the upgrade and brakes are definitely more authoritative. What went wrong for me was that I had brand new caliper mounts so needed to remove the rubber insert for the lower caliper pin. I managed after a lot of sweat. The process that succeeded for me was to use a thin piece of stiff wire to guide down the side of the insert then work right around with CRC to lube it all. Can then pull out by gripping the closed end while pushing the open end through. Also be sure to install springs on the pads. If you do not you will have an annoying rattle from the pads.
I did not have any springs and ended up getting some from Pick a Part and modifying to fit. BTW if you destroy the rubber inserts the ones on old 323 lasers are the same. Ready supply at Pick a Part.
Have fun.
If you are in Auckland i can help if you need it

I have the annoying rattle and I don't have the springs on any of my brake pads. Where do I go to get a set of springs and how do I make them fit?Mikkels wrote:Also be sure to install springs on the pads. If you do not you will have an annoying rattle from the pads.

Not really springs as opposed to wire clips,Rears have "w" clips ,top and bottom ,Cant remember the front ,but usually its the rears that go missing anyway..
They also have tin shims on the calipers as well,The 1600cc and 1800cc shims are slightly different,So you need make sure the upgrade kits come with all these as well.
