Hi Guys
First post here, been lurking for nearly a year.I have a silver 1600cc 91 that has terrible pads in it and would like suggestions for a suitable replacement.
It gets spirited road driving at the moment and will very soon be doing track days moving towards racing of some sort (recently retired from Mx so need something to keep my adrenalin buzz covered).
If and when I decipher how or what to do re a roll cage (and then who) and then viable classes!!!

I've run Bendex Ultimates with great success in 2 cars now. Previously I used:
Mintex 1166 (too dusty and rough as on rotors, and didn't last long with road use and very expensive),
EBC yellows (very narrow band of effectiveness, too cold = useless, too hot = useless)
I found them absolutely awesome in my old VZR pulsar, absolutely fantastic in the wrx and as soon as I get the 1800 brakes in my MX5 they'll be going into that as well.

Unfortunately, Bendix don't make Ultimates in the 1600 shape, only 1800. However, they do make the Heavy Duty, which I am led to believe is good.
From personal experience, I can recommend Ferodo Excel for street and occasional track use. Also, don't forget decent fluid! You can have the flashest pads in the world in your calipers, but if you use cheap, nasty fluid, you might as well use cheap, nasty brake pads.

I have the Mintex M1166 pads (1.6l size), and can concur with all of the points that punkoutnz made.
Also, I was very happy with them pre turbo, but since installing the turbo I've found them a bit lacking. This may be because there's only about 1/3rd of the pad left though, more likely that I'm carrying 30% more speed into the hairpin at Pukekohe.
