NA barke upgrade,Does your space saver fit?

Not a question but a thought for you out there that have done a brake upgrade on your early NA,
Did you realise that early NA later NA/NB with the bigger brakes have a different off set space saver !!,Did a bit of a comparinson today and spotted it,As i have done the upgrade and had a thought as you can put NA mk2 and later rims on early car but not early rims on later cars !!.
and if you want a taller space saver replace your 115/70/14 tyre for a 125/70/14 and it,s a lot closer to factory rolling diameter, still fits in the boot OK but you won't get the cover over it .
If you do need a later offset rim any Mazda Familia from 1997(BJ) on has the correct one with the bigger tyre .
Happy checking to check if your spare fits now :)

I never thought about it. I did my 94+ brake swap onto my 91 about 2001 and I'm pretty sure I've had the spare on since then, but perhaps not. That old 91 hasn't gotten a lot of miles since then and I can't recall a specific time I've had a flat.

Interesting.

Do you really need that spare wheel anyway? I don't remember the last time I
had a flat tyre when on normal roads and the NC (as with many cars now)
doesn't have a spare at all. In the last few years I've been let down by
other failures though. For example, I had a radiator top tank split in my NA
and I don't carry a spare one of those!

I've never considered removing it from my NA, I like to be able to head out into unfamiliar territory with out fear of being stranded. Some times the canned air/sealant works, sometimes not.

Does your NC have the run flat tires? I think those are optional in the US. Or do all NCs lack a spare no matter which tires they come with?

To me it totally depends on how the car is used. I considered removing the spare from my '05 "Mazdaspeed" Turbo since I've tried to do as much weight savings as possible on that car. But it would go back in if I was going to do a road trip off the beaten path.

Mine's a New Zealand new one without run flat tyres. The NC has not been
designed to carry a spare wheel. I am happy to take my cars on all sorts of
roads but they stay on public roads. My Nissan Terrano is for off road use.
Got a puncture in that last Friday too but I was off road at the time. Quite
disappointing to attempt to jack the Terrano up but have the jack sink in to
the ground and the vehicle not go up!
I don't remember the last time I had a puncture on public roads. I have
though had other failures requiring assistance to get the affected vehicle
home which is why I have no worries about traveling without a spare wheel.
