NA Rear Outer CV joint

Post by dictator » Wed Jun 24, 2020 5:37 pm

Hi All,

I require 2 outer rear cv joints for an na mx5.
My current ones are worn out.
I am having trouble trying to find out where I can get these from and hoping I am just not searching for the right thing.

Thanks for any help

You may have found this out already, but the CV joints aren't replaceable on their own. You will need to get new half shafts.
You don't say whether your car is a 1.6 or 1.8, but RockAuto in the US have 1.6 halfshafts for NZ$73 each plus NZ$40 freight plus GST. Unfortunately they only have one in stock at the moment.

As above.
The cv joint comes with the short outer axle unit as an assembly. They are the same as the Mazda 323 cvs. You can get them for under $100 each easily and come with boot and grease.
The long "axle" to the diff just pops out of the cv once you've loosened the boot. Be aware they may not come out of the bearing so budget for new wheel bearings if they don't come out easily.
