Strange Rattle
I havr a strange rattle coming from somewhere on the front of my car. At first I thought it was something to do with the brakes as if I just pressed lightly on the brake pedal it would go away, take my foot off and it would come back. It wasn't making it all the time just once on a while. This starting happening after I rebuilt the brake calipers, along with new pads and changed the springs on the shocks. The rattle was really only coming from the right hand sid, and would be present going straight ahead and when turning to the left, turning to the right it would stop.
Steering isn't shaking and the pedal feels fine under braking, but the sound is sort of similar to one of the slots on the rotor catching an edge of a pad. I have jacked the car up and spun the wheel but can't here or see anything, along wih checking every nut and bolt I touched in the process of doing the work (twice).
I am now starting to think that it could be a hub starting to fail, and that is causing the rotor to move around, but the old shake the wheel when it is up in the air shows nothing, and the things that I have read says a failing hub makes a humming noise rather than a rattle.
Any one with any ideas, as I haven't got a clue
I've also put new anti rattle clips in the calipers as well.

Rattle clips are new, and have checked them over and they look ok, it's not a stone sound so don't think its that, backing plate is a custom job as it has the brake vents on them and they look clear, but I most likely could have another look at these as it was a quick glance to make sure there was still a gap.
surely they would stock them?! they cost me 35bux for my silvia and 80bux for the soarer.sprsta wrote:where do you get yours from?na6*dori wrote:yes the hub comes as one piece, they are normally rather cheap so dont stress too much
pretty sure they are over $100 which i think is pretty expensive for a wheel bearing
after-market suppliers don't carry them either so you have to go genuine
il ring up and get a trade price monday

Damn... that's how much I paid for wheels including tyres excluding shipping. I hope my hubs don't ever die...na6*dori wrote:BNT stock them for 100+gst trade, 175incl retail. rather expensive compared to nissans hahasprsta wrote:where do you get yours from?na6*dori wrote:yes the hub comes as one piece, they are normally rather cheap so dont stress too much

Can you buy second hand hubs for cheap? Is this a good idea?
the hub kits cross over to a mazda 121, so depending what you can find. remembering that 2nd hand parts are a hit and a miss, could be good, could only last a week....Angreal wrote:Damn... that's how much I paid for wheels including tyres excluding shipping.
