Hmm, wonder if I have a problem

Post by Donovan » Thu Oct 18, 2012 9:52 pm

bit of a routine check of brakes and rotors this evening and stumbled across this. Have seen hundreds of heat cracks in my rotors, thought they were small fractures that didn't go very deep, guess I was wrong.

These are the kangaroo paw rotors right? The ones that are said to have really good cooling properties on the Goodwin website?

Looks pretty serious to me should your rotor fail coming down a main straight...

Yeah, it's the DBA's from Goodwins, guess the cooling properties weren't all they cracked up to be.

Not going to be doing anymore track days till I get a new set, now will just have to figure out what sort of rotors to get next.

Have you checked out racebrakes ?
They know there stuff and when they say it'll handle it they can back it up from experience

Yeah, was meaning to drop into Racebrakes last week, just ran out of time, will pop in there at some stage and see what rotors they think will do the job. It all depends on whether the top hats that I have fit the rotors as well.

Honestly, I used to run TRW rotors from repco on the track every time. No matter how good I went, I warped them, or cracked them. So went with cheap shitty ones and they actually lasted longer e
