They aren't TOO expensive.. like you can get a medium duty home DIY welding unit for $99.00 at the moment from Super Cheap..

And if Unitech do them for $500.00 I think it' a worthy investment.. plus maybe we could get the cost down if we had a few guys from the club going?

I was looking at doing some welding courses (night courses) in Auckland, wondering if anybody else could be keen? Could be a good skill to know to touch up rust areas add flares etc..

If anyone is interested I'd be quite keen to do more research into it?

I have started to clean the car and sorted to throttle out so far!

Yeah, I was looking for a s14 PFL but to find one for the price I paid for the Mx (3,200) I would have gotten a completely thrashed s14 that had half the interior missing and no air filter (oh, that one was actually 4,000) But as a first manual car (still learning..) ...
