Broken External Door Mirror Needed

To get back to where all this started!!!, There is a writeup in the Miata garage of how one person solved their problem with the "floppy mirror". Go here; http://www.cockyracingguy.com/door_mirror.htm For what it is worth, there is a goldmine of information on the Miata site; http://forum.miata.net/...

Are we already being censored?

I must also agree with Kate, zorruno does a great job and we would all be the poorer if he were not doing it. Unfortunatly there are some who have a "knack" of pressing buttons and others have a "knack" of reacting to said button pressing. The world would be a very sad and boring place if all was pe...

Are normal car batteries unsafe in MX5?

While the use of the standard lead acid batteries is NOT a no no in the MX5, the risk of acid leakage and subsequent rust problems cannot be dismissed. There is a reasonable amount of aluminium in the MX5, OK it is treated to prevent corrosion, but it's still there. Aluminium does not like acid fume...

Soft-top cover (was OK to leave hood down?)

I got mine off Trademe for $185 about a year ago. there are a couple on the
list at present.
Make sure you go for the right one for your car, 89 - 97 NA (small catches),
or 98 - 05 NB (4 large and 5 small catches)
Just keep watching the Trademe listings.

Just be aware that by the time the temp gauge starts to climb above normal, the water temp is already above 225F. So long as the temp didn't climb too much, you are probably ok. The thermostat replacement is a good idea though. Keep a close eye on the coolant level for some time to come. The temp ga...

Dash Light colour?

Doug, The bulbs show green as they have coloured "condoms" on them. It is possible to get different coloured covers, but the dials are also coloured, so the nett result can be not what you desire. I have removed the green covers and the illumination is more cream now, and much brighter. (I have also...

Just that happened to me a few years ago. Bloke in a Ford courier spun to a stop when a kid ran out in front of him, I was able to steer off to the left but still hit his rear wheel. The police said that I would normally get a ticket but due to the way the Ford stopped he would let me off. PHEW!!! T...

South Island thoughts

Great weekend. Great northland scenery and plenty of windy roads. Pity about the short loose metal sections, but nothing a quick wash couldn't fix, (Twilight blue went grey!!). 2 NC's and an MX6 in the mix. I had to do a complete clean up though for the photoshoot on Monday. 2 stock NA's, 2 stock NB...

The Frankenstein "bolts" are actually a fancy nut which screws onto a short
8mm stud, which is screwed into the nuts in the body.

New Zealand Classic Car Magazine MX5 comparison across the g

How about a standard 98NB6C (the 1600 engine). Mine is Twilight Blue Mica. Factory fitted air dam, side skirts and rear "bump" spoiler, stock wheels with 185/60 14 tyres. I have a silver hard top also. This is a valid comparison as there are a lot of 1600 NB's imported from Japan I could be availabl...

Only the 6 speed gearboxes don't have the top reservoir. There's plenty of references in the Miata.net forums. See the garage section also. Use the same oil as the gearbox, any good GF4 or GF5 75-90 oil is satisfactory. I know the Americans swear by redline, but Amsoil is available in Henderson (jus...
