The same types will comprise danger in every and all types circumstance, quite apart from driving a car. The other person is, and always will be their last concern. I have to agree, sadly this seems to be the creed of modern western society, just look outside or watch TV, everything seems to be abo...

Hi, Gear Noise ?

A little blue smoke on cold start-up is pretty normal for a high K's engine, it does not signify the end. Yay to mountain bikers, but I'm not happy with all the people who want to spend my rates on a bike lane over the harbour bridge so that a small few can ride over the bridge once until they reali...

Hi, Gear Noise ?

Mark, yes you are right, you don't have to worry about oil for the 6 speed.

Also I forgot, before you life the console out you need to disconnect the
electric window switch.... oops

Hi, Gear Noise ?

Without looking inside the diff or pulling a wheely with one wheel on the grass it's almost impossible to determine if it's a torsen. Of course if it's a BRG you won't be able to pull a wheely even on the grass :) This question has been asked on many forums (I asked ages ago), I tried the same thing...

Hi, Gear Noise ?

I'd also put a vote in for the gear box seal/gater. I did mine on my NA and it made a huge difference. One symptom of this can be a warm gear box gaiter when driving for a while. I also just replaced my friends one on a 99, so anything older than 10 years has bound to have worn out. You can buy them...

incorrect speedo reading

That sounds about right, both my previous speedo and my company car read about 105k when my GPS says I'm doing 100k. I assume they factory calibrate on the safe side allowing for maximum tyre wear etc. Makes you wonder on top gear how fast some of the super cars are actually going, I wouldn't be sur...

decast models

Oh nice, is it purely a model or an RC? If so what is the chassis? I have a Tamiya TT-01 drifter and a couple of HPI Savage trucks... most of the fun is making and modifying rather than using them...lol I've made models of a couple of cars I've owned and it's always the wheels that let them down, it...

Radar detectors - What's best?

I've heard only rumours of detector bans for many years, but scramblers have been illegal for a long time. That said I know of a dodgy web site selling them here along with Radar detectors etc. The site seems to be run by people hailing from that rather large country sitting just above Hong Kong. I ...

Radar detectors - What's best?

I think this is something you need to Google, there are bound to be product reviews out there, just Google something like - Whistler Pro test - or - Whistler pro review, there will be a few marketing hits but there should also be some decent tests/reviews. I do it for everything I buy (just about). ...

I may have the answer. My NA used to drive me mad with the same thing, I can't remember where I got the answer... wait found it.... on the original MX5 email list/forum Nov 04. I was also convinced it was way under the dash, way over on the passenger side. Anyway it turned out that this was a very c...

Hi, new on forum. Looking for MX5

Remember most of us here in the forum are kind of fanatics and want the manual, but you will love the MX5 auto or not, they are a great summer car, and the hard top will be a big bonus in winter. The tops are a little heavy but you can buy a lifter kit to help you take it off, they are made here by ...

Has anyone found a realy good size box to fit int he boot of an MX5? Or made one? I really want something long and slim and/or something with a pretty good forward facing angle. I have a standard box shape one from Jaycar fitted with a 10" but it will only fit in the boot facing up. So the sub ends ...

voodoo knob & boot leak

My na boot would leak when I parked the car facing uphill. It was fine
on the flat. The seals around the tail lights are a possible source of
problems as the boot gutter feeds down to them.

voodoo knob & boot leak

My NA would leak if I parked it facing uphill, I think it was because the middle of the top drain was a couple of mm lower when facing uphill. Another leak can be the seal around the lights as the drain channel feeds down on top of them. And thirdly is the carpet below the back window wet? If yes th...
