I was going to but mine grows really fast, which is why I usually carry the stubbly look. I gave up growing it after a couple of weeks, I was getting too much food stuck in it.

I do 60km each way in mine, pretty much all open road with only a few k's town stuff each end. Yes it's buzzy but I like the fact that it's cruising at the sweet spot power wise. And I still get a good 12 km/l, unless I take the bendy road home. If 100kph economy is really important to you, you migh...

I've never seen speaker power leads in an RCA format, the coax cable and RCA plug aren't designed to carry much current. I would suspect you need a separate amplifier between the receiver and sub. Cheap enough if you don't want to rattle your windows. A word of warning, assuming your receiver sub ou...

I used to know a detective inspector very well and asked his advice after an interaction with a couple of Ds who were on a drug case. They were pretty enthusiastic and it ended up with a damaged car and a roughed up mate. It was all a case of mistaken identity but escalated pretty quickly, largely b...

Hey! I resemble that remark!

Actually having some silver in my hair can be a bonus. I got a little (well a lot really) sideways pulling out of my street recently right in front of the local cop, he just waggled his finger at me.

On a slightly related topic, has anyone had insurance increased because they put in a roll bar? I queried my insurance provider and they said that premiums would go up because having a roll bar indicates more risky driving. So do insurance companies differentiate between a roll bar and a style bar? ...

Absolutely right. However, flame treating with a gas torch gives variable results, and not many home workshops have a corona discharge apparatus.

Does anyone know if Recaro SR3s or Recaro Millenniums will fit in an NA MX-5 without too much hassle? I put a set of on older ones in mine without too much hassle, just needed to make some adapterplates to attach the MX rails. Mine are the ones with narrower shoulders though. I did a slight foamect...

I would use Polypropylene over ABS. ABS is in the Styrene family and although a lot stronger would still crack if hit by a flying stone. The ABS sheet wouldn't have any UV stabilisers in it either so it would go brittle over time... (Mind you...so would PP, but that would last a bit longer [I'm tal...

Spraying thinners with a splash of detergent in it is good, with a resin brush to work it into the nooks and crannies, then a waterblast. Keep the thinners away from rubber though. Then I spray with tyre treatment from SC to shine everything up.

Price is reasonable if everything's in good nick, but the kkk is a bit of an orphan, and the bunch of bananas manifold is prone to cracking, and that downpipe looks a bit sub optimal. You need an intercooler, so half of your intake piping goes in the bin. So you could end up with a $1000 box of junk...

Buying in a DIY Megasquirt

I like dabbling round with electronics and I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron, so I thought that rather than buying a PNP MS I'd get a kit in and assemble it myself. Anyone else gone down that track? I know that a Stimulator is recommended for setting it up, so before I buy one, does anyone have...

I do a similar mileage in mine, which is why I'm going to a megasquirt soon. Even if the car doesn't have fuel consumption problems like OP, being able to tune out the rich setting the OEM fuel management has will pay for it in a year's driving.
