Thank you for the kind offer. Unfortunately I do not know enough to do that, not at the moment. I'll leave it for now and will look at it again end of the week. Hopefully by then I'll get better leads.

Try AA - they have been very good to me over the years and I don't see any reason why they wouldn't insure.

Have asked a couple of auto electricians - said they can only give a firm quote once they have taken the alternator out. just for info - got quoted 225 + GST by Mazda NZ for the original gel battery. Might just go for the ordinary Exide though, not enough funds unfortunately!
