My last post (sent via email) appeared with the wrong time, so I'm
inclined to blame the forum. This email was sent around 9:36pm.

WHY IS THE POST TIME WRONG?

Time on the host server is correct and increasing monotonically.
Any time weirdness is either the forum software or something to do with
users.

Argh! Soft-top emergency!!!

Try places that do canvas awnings for boats - I went to one in Archers
Rd (North Shore, Auckland) when the zipper head for my window wore out.
Cost about $3.

If you tell us what general area of Auckland you're in, I'm sure you'll find people happy to show you their cars, and talk endlessly about them :-) I'm in the Glenfield area, with an '89 car that needs some love, so I can demonstrate some of the aspects of the car that get 'tired', if you like. I have had the reversing-light switch fail on my MX5 - it's an easy
replacement - only tool required was a big spanner (24mm, I think).

Since it's an '89, if you're replacing cambelt etc. it would be prudent to replace the crank nose bolt with a new one (they cost about $17+GST, I think), and maybe consider loctiting it all up as a precautionary measure against the dreaded crank-nose failure! The bolts do stretch with time and re-us...
