Just passing this one on
MessageMuch as we may wish this. 1) Would 2 million vehicles really all fill up in one day? 2) If 2 million vehicles did fill up this would exceed the refining capacity of NZ. (2 million vehicles is 60m litres in this story). NZ refinery processes approx 105000 barrels of oil per day which refines i...

Battery recharge
Hi, I need to recharge my battery, and reading through old emails I see it needs a slow trickle charger of 1amp. Went into Repco and lowest they had is a 2amp. Looking at miata.net and I found an article saying use a 2amp charger. Before I unpack it and start using it do you think it will be OK or d...

Terry As far as I can work out the rego includes a contribution to the ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation) and for 2005/6 is $126 per year. There is also a contribution of 5.78c per litre of petrol. The ACC covers for bodily injury caused for all victims of a road crash including pedestrians and...

Was there a Wellington event this weekend
Eric
Thanks for this. Just need to keep an eye out on the site for Wellington
area events. There do not seem to be many
on the website. Maybe I just need to hand over my dosh first so I get the
club magazine.

Was there a Wellington event this weekend
Tony Thanks for that. Looks like the June one was missed from the site, as past ones are there, but no future events are shown. Are the local chapters distinct, or can people in Wellington join the Kapiti bunch. Regards John -- ___________________________________________________________ Sign-up for ...

Was there a Wellington event this weekend
There I was driving towards Johnsonville, from Khandallah, about 11am on Sunday 19th June, when I see a stream of MX5s going the other way. I was not in mine so it was not worth me waving. I have been planning to join the club and thought I would go along to the first event to meet everyone before I...

MX5 Rental in Wellington
Does anybody know where to rent an MX5 in the Wellington area? I can find
plenty in Auckland and Christchurch, but Wellington seems a void.

Ian I used Car Stereo Company at 58 Kent Terrace, they also have a branch at 453 Hutt Road, Lower Hutt. They recommended a Dynatron D7600 for my 1994. Total price was $900, this included about $200 for making the doors central locking. Fitting was completed inside one day. When I got home I found th...

Ian I park my car regularly in Wellington city centre overnight. 1) The car park above new world on Willis St. This car park is locked at 7pm so it not a really helpful example. 2) If is often parked on CBD streets in the evening to say 1-2am. I take the same precations as all cars I drive and park ...

I have to declare an interest as I have done some IT contracting work for State. 1) I had a claim on my household claim, also State, where I dropped my Notebook and smashed the screen. New screen authorised in 1 day, actual replacement 5 days as the HP dealer needed to order the new screen from Auck...

I am with State and have a $500 excess. It was reduced from $1000 when I had
the immobiliser and Microwave alarm fitted.

I have just had my MX5 serviced by Mazda in Wellington and they used Shell
Helix 10W 40. No time yet to experience how well this works.
Cheers

Very late addition to this thread. Just thought I would correct the name
spelling as it is "Maclennan", might make it slightly quicker for anyone to
find them if they use this thread in the future.

glass or plastic window - zip or no zip?
Well coming in to this thread quite late. My 94 has a new roof on it with a
plastic window but no zip on it.
I can certainly see that I will need to get some form of padding as the
window is developing a very obvious "line" where the plastic is folded when
the roof is down.

Speed cameras (again) some interesting stats
Eric, Well it just goes to show you cannot trust these traffic police :-)). My friend was snapped at 101, towing a trailer. When we were drinking a BBQ last weekend this copper, a friend of 17 years to my friend (is that confusing) made the comment that he could have been doing 110 due to how the th...

I was talking to a cop the other day and he said with cameras you will always
be issued a ticket saying you were "nn"1 kmh, so with a ticket for 91kmh this
means Ann was doing between 91 and 100kmh, if the ticket was for 101km then
you are doing between 101 and 110kmh.

Insurance Scam
Insurance ScamBill,
I would say it is industry wide to go back two steps for a claim. The good
news though is if you have more than one claim in year you do not step back
any further )
