Supercharger Bypass

I have fitted a Mini M45 Suprecharger to my 1991 NA 1.6 using a TR Lane fitting kit with a Mini bypass valve. I'm unsure if things are working correctly and would appreciate advise. I have videoed the RPM and MAP gauges on Tuner Studio. Is the reaction of the MAP gauge correct in respect to the RPM....

Dual Throttle Bodies

I am having problems getting my DTB's set up correctly. I have followed the instructions written up by Godless Commie on the Dual Throttle Body thread but I continue to get lots of noise especially under load. I have tried opening up the SC throttle and also closing it down but I continue to get lot...

Well time for an update. SC is fitted and the car is running. I'm getting the ocassional scream but this is I think down to the dual TB's not being set up correctly. The reading I have done so far on dual TB's seem to all use an eliptical cam so that the TB before the SC opens more. Is it possible t...

Connected the vacuum line up to the bypass valve and tried it at idle. Exactly as zippy2 said, the valve fully opened so it is clear that I had the bypass valve connected up incorrectly.

Will try and reasemble it all tomorrow and see if the scream has gone.

I wonder if I'm loosing vacuum and therefore not opening the bypass valve.

The second TB is actually mounted on its side, the cable operates from the top.

Also meant to say, the bypass valve is very slightly open when at idle.

I have taken some photo's of the SC with all the ancillary bits connected. Have also taken some additional photo's of the bypass valve. The valve appears to see vacuum after the second TB. I'm going to try putting the SC back on without the inlet and outlet connected, i guess this will rule out an i...

Thanks for the advice everyone, here is some additional information. The SC was bought second hand off Trade Me. Seller (bmwe39, he sells quite a lot of M45 SC, he currently has one listed) claimed that it had done less than 100Km before being swapped out. I have checked and there is oil at both end...

M45 Supercharger help please

I have just spent the last 5 days trying to fit an Eaton M45 supercharger with a Tim Lane Fabrications mounting kit and have struggled all the way. I can't get the belt correctly alligned and SC screams all the time, it is that loud I would be concerned about starting it at 630am when I head out to ...

Fun day at Pukekohe for charity

I have recently started doing fun days at Pukekohe Raceway for the charity Kids in Cars. These are not full on track days as the whole point is to take kids who are suffering or recovering from cancer around the track. The speed is governed by a pace car but you still get the thrill of throwing your...

Hi Warrior, I picked one up from Repco. Cost about $150 to $200 (not cheap). I'm going to be upgrading mine again, going to a wideband as I'm replacing the ECU. So will have a 4 wire for sale in a few weeks if you are interested.

Found a fix

Well I think I have finally got it sorted. I found on a US forum details concerning an adjustment screw on the AFM. It is hidden under a metal cap, the cap requires drilling out. Once exposed, turn the screw anti clockwise (count how many turns it takes, mine took 1 1/4). Now turn it 4 turns clockwi...

Thanks sprsta, I have just boiled my air valve and will see if that has made any difference. If that hasn't worked then I will take you up on your offer.

Do you have a spare AFM to try as well?

Intemittent Idle Droop

I hope some one can help with this issue I am having with 1991 NA 1.6 manual. I get intermittent Idle Droop when coming to a stop. I have cleaned the throttle body, replaced the throttle body and ISC valve, checked the idle speed, checked the TPS, replaced spark plugs and leads, nothing has helped. ...

4 wire O2 Sensor

Is there anyone out there have a set of instructions for fitting a 4 wire o2 sensor on a 91 NA6? Currently have stainless extractors with the standard single wire o2 sensor.
Also, can anyone advice on a suitable o2 sensor to install?
