Awesome turbo'ed MX5 for sale
Guys, Due to being relocated with work to sunny Florida (will be confirmed in a few weeks) I have to put the beast up for sale. Everything I have done on this car has been without worrying about expense (much to my wife’s dismay) – and as such its full of high quality kit. So what do you get for you...

ahh - just found it on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Link_ElectroSystems Im not sure if it will use the handheld as it looks like it would pre-date most of the features. Either way you are welcome to have a play and see if its fits anywhere. I dont know if you have it in the car at the mome...

Sorry Howard - have been offline for a couple of days. Im unsure what the EMX stands for (but Ill do some googling) - the handheld is the standard link unit that is used by all the ECU's. The pins on the connector are something like 1.5cms wide and two pins high. I also have the standard Link contro...

+ 1 on the NGK's.
I have used them and never had a problem.
$25 for the iridium's (sp?) just dont give any bang-for-buck or benefits
IMHO.

I did this on my 89 - not so much for height (im short  ), but because it made the seat more 'huggy' for spirited driving. Unfortunatley this was a while back and I didnt take any pics. I can tell you that it does make a difference, and feels better IMHO. Take heed of the warning in the miata.n...

Intercooler recommendations
I have a Bell Engineering Intercooler from Corky Bell who is one of the main turbo suppliers in the US (there are Bell / Begi and Flyin Miata). My intercooler is not that much larger than the RX7 unit and is fine for 12PSI (yeah, yeah I know its not measured by PSI - but I wanted to indicate that NZ...

MOD Edit: To anyone changing to aftermarket seats: You should be aware that modifications to the seat mounts may require certification. I believe (but am seaking clarification) that as long as you use the original runners and bolt directly to the seats bracket you do not require a cert. However with...

To your garage (the kitchen is not to be advised unless you have a very
understanding wife). Get a saw, oil to lubricate and get cutting.

Greddy turbo 'stages'
All, This information comes from the old Greddyfaq.com site. The site has changed considerably (looks like it was sold) so this info is not posted there anymore – so hopefully this will keep it available. I’ll use this in a HOWTO: document I am knocking together also but wanted to get it out for any...

WANTED: Turbo Kit
Congratulations on the new purchase! The kit looks like good value for money. On top of having the turbo reconditioned (always a good idea) can I suggest that you make some cuts in the manifold - The Greddy is well known to crack once it's hot and its easier to get it done now before you start insta...

Tapping the pan
You can get them From Engine Specialties in Glenfield Auckland. (Actually I had the hose and had to get them to shorten it for me. As for cooling - if your turbo supports it water cooling is very easy to do - and there is no reason why you would not do it. As for oil cooling - Keith Jones has this o...

Seats (bucket)
The Racepro seats (see racepro.co.nz) can fit fairly easily - although they are iro $5-600 per seat. Generally they are better quality than most of the trademe offerings. They fit snugly, but OK and you can use the mounting brackets onto (with a little adjustment) to the standard rails that are on y...

Last night I was mucking around trying to swapout rollcages (anyone want an old rollcage???) - anyway while I was in the garage I took some quick pics of the pan tap for this thread in case it is of use to anybody. Cannot dial in boost with MBC
No - the blow off closes fine. I think that I twisted the 'long arm' (technical term) adjusting the length of it - thus I ruined the diaphragm. This means that despite any setting on the boost controller side, the exhaust port is opening as soon as the car is getting positive pressure (you can hear ...

Cannot dial in boost with MBC
Hi - Here is my problem, Now that I have the new clutch in - I can raise my boost - or so I thought ... I have a MBC installed between the housing on the turbo and the wastegate. If I have the w/gate can set to 5PSI - I cannot change boost at all higher regardless of the amount I dial in the MBC - e...
