Our 2003 MX5 had an annoying constant rattle coming from under the left seat - only when empty.
Had to take seat out and found source to be the little U shaped support the front on the seat slider adjustment rod passes through. Crimping the U a little tighter to hold the rod firmer did the trick!

NB 2.5 CLUTCH problems?
I was aware that the 2003 MX5 we bought recently was a model that was prone to clutch judder. Our one doesn't seem too bad here though and we are able to get nice smooth starts just by using a few more revs than normal. Just a few (well, 6 actually) questions about all this: Is it normal to have to ...

CUP HOLDER SPRING BROKEN --- how to fix???
On our 2003 NB, the rear cup holder (not the CD storage box) lid is floppy which is annoying as it is right where your left elbow rests whilst driving. I can see a little spring on the left side has come loose or broken. What is the easiest way to get access to this and fix it? Thks.

JAPANESE IMPORTED vs NEW ZEALAND NEW DIFFERENCES
Just bought a NZ new 2003 1.8 MX5. Can anyone tell me the differences between this and the Japanese import equivalent, not that one is better than the other, I'm just curious to know the exact differences...

Ha ha, that's funny... Others out there call it Scamsoil, but without any real foundation. A mechanic friend (I suppose you'd call him a pro) is a big fan of Amsoil for his old bikes and reckons I should get some, plus Amsoil's nano particle filter which apparently is good for life of engine oil. Th...

NB DIY QUESTION + AMSOIL
Does anyone know the best DIY manual for a 2003 1.8 NB, and where to get it. Haynes looks like they only do a repair manual for earlier NA model. Also what is the best oil to use? Has anyone used Amsoil? On their US website there is a "Build List" where everything from oil filters, spark plugs and w...

NEW MX5 OWNER NEEDS HELP
Hi all, Wifey and I just bought our first MX5 today - a 2003 NZ 1.8 NB in Blue Mica. Looks and drives great! Now we can see what all the fuss was about over these last 21 years! Just 4 easy questions for y'all: 1. Fuel cap says 95 octane unleaded. Would it go OK on 91 or is that false economy? BP ha...
