Cool- could be keen. Are there requirements for a roll bar? I can't see any mention of one?

Should be all good in terms of heat shields as there are none :)

Haha I did notice the muffler or some other part of the rear section of exhaust was knocking on something at the last track day though.

Found the issue- Both rubber seals (the one which seals the trans tunnel from the cabin and the one which seals the top of the transmission) were cracked- When the gearstick was facing back, the crack was opened up letting gearbox/road noise into the cabin. I've ordered both seals from Mazda (not ex...

On a related....but not really related note: Decimal hours are useful in aviation though- Makes working out Time/Distance/Speed equations far easier. 0.1 hours = 6 minutes etc

I've been looking at them as well, I like the fact that the bolt into the seatbelt tower, my Donbar is inside, so just that bit too narrow for my liking. I should have brought one of these over when I brought in all the conversion kit, hate to think how much it would cost just by itself. We all nee...

True, but you only loose a very minimal amount (the diameter of the bar..call it 5cm?)- I had the single cross bar design, am ~ 180 cm I've put a lot of thought into coming up with an alternative design but you have to move away from a 'self install' bar quite quickly or start interfering with the s...

Just rang Don yesterday but he isn't back until next Monday- Last time I talked to him he didn't have any bars made up so would need to make a new batch. I had one in my previous MX5 (It was more like $350 in 2009...so would be more now)- They are functional, if a little ugly....but the price is goo...

Yeah the rollbar requirement for playday events is a pain in the bum a bit: Yes it is good to have one....but so are airbags and a range of other safety devices which aren't a requirement.

Sourcing a rollbar for an MX5 can be difficult (more so for the NB) but is a good investment.

Any idea of the cost of the rubber boots? Mine has a crack which opens up when the stick is facing rearward which introduces a bit of gearbox and road noise into the cabin (NB 6 Spd)

Why do people go to the effort to update their classified to say something is sold when they can pull it with no fees and no questions - its a classified, learn how they work? Pet hate... people that leave ads up for sold items piss me off. Because unfortunately a lot of people 'buy' something and ...

I like the third one...mainly because I drive an NB. Perhaps it would be good to have a similar style sticker for each generation of MX5? (NA, NB, NC)

Agree the car on the 1st sticker has a 'bemused' face though.

3k mx5 plus 2k roll bar wont get you an S2000..... True, but a 8-9k MX5 + 2k rollbar + whatever else is needed to get ~ 230hp (i.e. the same performance potential as an S2000) is getting mighty close. To make it clear, my car isn't a track car. It's a road car that I like to do track days in so our...

As an estimate to fabricate the design I wanted, it was ~$1200 plus would need to be certed (either a LVVT or MANZ)..... What was the basis for it requiring certification? He wasn't sure if it would be needed or not- I suggested it wouldn't need to be (due to the reason snapfrozen pointed out). Doe...

Well just went and talked to SpeedFactor here in Tauranga (seem like a top-quality outfit)- They had made one a while ago but for an NA (so the rear stays would need to be brought forward to allow the glass rear window to fold) and it was a simple single hoop with diagonal brace. As an estimate to f...

Not speaking from any position of authority/knowledge, I can't see how it would be deemed structural- It is simply a thin piece of metal to flatten out that area...its only held on with small (8-10mm) bolts?

So what's the deal with the MANZ log book and cert (in terms of extra costs)

My understanding is that a) as long as the bar isn't forward of your head, you don't need it certed which for what I want the bar for (trackdays) is a plus.

Im going to go and see a local outfit today for the same reason. The options I've considered are: 1) Another 'don bar' like I had in my NA....don't really like the style of it but it is bolt in and well priced 2) Importing a Deuce from the US- I like the look of these and they are tough for a double...

{NB} Rattle in 6th and 4th

My car has a rattle coming from the gear shift/box when in 6th (and to a lesser extent 4th- I.e. with the gearstick towards the rear). It's not a loud rattle, it sounds similar to something vibrating in the glove box or stereo compartment (i.e. slightly plasticky rattle)- I haven't taken the trans t...
