New Twilfast Hood
My OEM vinyl top (NB 2.5 2002)was finally too far gone to repair. Didn't want another vinyl top, too prone to UV and didn't look hal as good as those on the new MX5's or top line Audi's etc... Searched the web and spoke to literally heaps of folk before deciding on www.dandycars.com heated rear wind...

[quote="Mark"]Damn Damn Damn. When people suggest replacing the rear main seal when ever you've got the engine or gearbox out, just obey them. Do not do as I did and presume that she'll be right /quote] Good story - excellent advice. If anyone is looking for a REALLY good bodywork artist in Christch...

Simplest solution is probably to fit coloured sleeves to the standard bulbs. Narva do a range of silicone globe sleeves in red, orange, blue and green. I have never used them and don't know how effective they are but may be worth a look. www.narva.co.nz and look in the globes catalogue. E Spot on E...

Timmo, Too true. I often used to offer precisely the same argument when 'exotic' sound systems (read Bose) were first trotted out for use in cars. However, when you buy a car that's already equipped with one of these self-same systems, and want to take your collection of iPod-based music (and Podcas...

I'm happy with a simple jack to tape reader in my car- I loose a bit of quality through the tape heads but didn't think it was worth replacing an otherwise good headdeck to gain a few more Khz of quality which would then be lost due to road and windnoise anyway.... Timmo, Got to disagree with you h...

iPod integration
After scratching my head and trying to figure a simple but tidy and effective way of getting my MP3 collection into my 2002 Facelift NB I eventually settled for a FM transmitter that had a SD/USB slot as well as a 3.5mm jack. Worked quite OK'ish, but it certainly wasn't 'CD quality' and plugged into...

http://codes.rennacs.com/Petrol-Engine/Japanese-Korean/Mazda-Engines.php I think investigation of the above link will show how to use the diagnostic connector with simple "bridge" between pins and an LED to read codes, with lookup of codes in their database...... Hi Mark, Thanks very much for that,...

NB lack of OBD socket
I'm puzzled because, although my MX 5 is a 2002 RS JDM model, it doesn't appear to have an OBD port of any style, anywhere! It does have a grey adaptor marked 'DIAGNOSIS' on the left hand wheel arch in the engine bay with 11 of the pins connected. This sounds reminiscent of the NA diagnostics connec...

I can vouch for that. After running my 1.8 JDM RSII on 90 for the past six month, Brownie (this forum) advised 95. Ran the last tank of 90 right down andfilled with BP 95, what a difference! Was getting OK performance before with the ocassional backfire on overrun/deceleration, now it's just so much...

Where can I get decent mats for my NB?
Looking to get new mats for my 2002 NB. The one's offered by the local Mazda dealership, whilst OK, aren't really very good.
The present ones (probably ex-Japan) are black with a red 'Roadster' logo stitched in, but no heel wear pad.
Anyone got nay ideas?
