I've seen you lurking on the facebook pages! Personally ive got 2mm ABS sheet for the doorcards, which i plan on replacing with the carbon fibre (for looks, not for weight). But id say its probably easiest to get some standard doorcards and just pull off the handles etc, and make up a dummy knob for...

Update: sorted it. Went through a method of elimination and realised it was my wiring. The bmw's use the ground wound about the tps to shield it, which I assume then goes to ground somewhere and that's what I did, so the ecu in the car wasn't getting the current draw. God know why it did it at 2600r...

Ok, so have been mucking round with the car today hoping to go have a play with the Hamilton car club and have come across a bit of a weird one. Car idles nicely, but as I feed on the gas it will climb Happily to about 2600rpm and then starts to hunt terribly. If I continue to slowly increas throttl...

Alright! She's been a little while since asking all these questions and figured I should update the progress. Here is what I did. 1. Pulled off the 1600 tps/trottle body and adapter plate. I needed to in order to get the feed from the intercooler up from under the sway bar ( it was a shitty over the...

Mazda speed leads too short!
Hey all, putting the car back together with a few mods to it (coil pack moved slightly towards the east, and now my no.3 lead doesn't fit. I have literally moved it 10mm back, And now it's 10mm short, so where it was it must have been f****en tight! (Not that I really noticed) They're also 1.6 leads...

Great work timmo. It all depends on how close your tune is to detonation. If it's tuned to within an ounce of its life, taking off the cooler will cause predetonation, but if it's mildly tuned, it should be fine. For reference, how big is that intercooler? The one in mine (turbo) is 550x265x65 core ...

Friend of mine builds those air bagged trailers. I recommend him highly. Not cheap but very very pimp.

Yep Papamoeziz has the right idea. Some bargains can be had if you hunt around on the Facebook groups for long enough. I picked up a blue 90' 1.6 NA for 2k a few months ago, done 250,000 k's. Little rough around the edges but a good buy nonetheless. Then I got lucky and bought a 93' 1.8 NA for 3k j...

My first came out of Wellington. MINT Stock 1.6 na with a big rad, adjusties, hardtop 230kms and I got it as part trade towards another car I had (owes me 3 on paper), and then put some big brakes in, and when I look at selling it, I will be wanting about 5 for it (buyer already lined up) My second ...

Thanks for all the info, and I do understand your concerns, and do value the input. I'm just trying to weigh up the pros and cons of both options. And I know NOTHING about early link gear. I'm the kind of guy who likes doing things myself, and will always prefer to learn firsthand. I have tuned a co...
