I suspect the Borla is the glass fibre type then... its certainly got louder over the time I've owned it. If they re-pack them, what do they do? Cut off one end, repack, and re-weld the end back on? I guess something like this might allow a repair of anything internal that is loose. I know nothing a...

Thanks guys. I'll do some asking. Fletch did you have a resonator previously? Until now my systems been the Borla which is a pipe plus muffler, and my cat is a high-flow I bought from Loch Stewart some 7 years back. I do remember others saying that when they completely removed the cat there was a re...

Exhaust Replacement Experience
My almost 10 year old Borla cat-back muffler is in need of replacement. Its got an unpleasant buzz / rattle at just under 3k rpm which happens to be about where it seems to run a bit of the time around town... I need to have a muffler / pipe combination made up to run from the cat to the tail pipe. ...

Extractors
Colin on the list here can vouch for the products from Loch Stewart, if they are still available. Made a measurable difference to his 1.8. On the other hand the extractors he had previously from McLennan's here in Wellington were likely causing a LOSS of performance. On Tue, 27 Apr 2004 17:39:42 +12...

Depends on who makes the extractors. There are good ones, properly designed, and there are pipes that look like extractors, but have not had any design effort put into them. I've got a pair of those ramps, but don't use them. On our paved surface they slide when you try to drive up on them. On asphalt its OK though. Bill, I believe that if you look at the ticket you will see that your option regarding defence is to make a written submission. Or perhaps this is if you admit guilt? You will need to decide if you are going to admit speeding (ie over 50) and then make some argument around that as defence, or deny s...

Headlight alignment needed?
So you're saying that this will be a regular problem for MX-5 owners? Anyone else out there suffering from this "very likely" problem?

Headlight alignment needed?
Agreed, but what I'm interested in is a count of how many headlight alignments have been needed by those on the list, I'd suspect almost none during the ownership of their car. I can't see how it can suddenly go out of alignment when nothing has been touched that could affect it. Of course I could h...

Headlight alignment needed?
I've just had a WOF done today, and was surprised when I had a call from the local garage who do this for me to say it had failed and needed a headlight alignment. That would cost an additional $25 plus GST. I was stuck of course, as it had to be approved to pass, and they had the car. So I said yes...

One pitfall when you are having a car bought at auction... the local dealer will tell you what he thinks the car will sell for in Japan, and you will do your figures based on that. He will then ask you how high you would be prepared to have the bid go so he can set a maximum bid. You will find that ...

Actually there have been some pretty average Alfas over the past 20 years. Its a brand that rests mostly on its heritage, without delivering much of substance or excitement any more.

Gas gobbler? Ajax
I seem to recall this type of action being suggested on the Miata Power list a few years back. In particular Skip Cannon mentioned that one of the things he had tried to get his Total Seal rings to seat was a small amount of "Bon Ami" which is I believe an abrasive cleaner similar to Ajax. So the ad...
