Insurance Claim Question....
I had this happen. The repairer was a good one, and repainted part of the car to get a better match. Paint matching is part of their job, there is no excuse for it to be wrong. If necessary take it to another repairer and get a written opinion, take that to your repairer, and if they won't fix it ta...

This was a while back, and a mention in Top Down Mag drew zero interest. What I had arranged was a relationship with Goodwin Racing of San Diego (http://www.good-w in-racing.com/goodwinracing_001.htm) to offer everything they have to people in NZ (including the agencies such as Racing Beat) and to b...

Interesting story... On my way to Auckland for the track day about 18 months ago I was behind a double milk tanker north of Huntly. I followed it at 90kph for ages until we hit a nice long clear stretch of straight road. I pulled out overtook, and just as I was nearing the end of the pass my Valenti...

Stick on plates - my bit ...
Well we have had a stick on plate for about 6 years here in Wellington, have driven the car all over the North Island, and daily around Wellington. My wife was pulled over once and the only concern expressed was regarding the whereabouts of the original front plate, which since has travelled in the ...

I just use Shell Helix Plus, semi synthetic. Its not too expensive. When fresh there is no lifter noise, when old there will be a little just on startup. I used to use Mobil 1, but it was more expensive, and no better at this. Some have suggested that soaking the new oil filter with fresh oil for 24...

re[2]: wider wheels (was spacers)
BTW, my susp guru says it's often better to reduce offset when using
wider wheels to reduce tramlining. he recommended 38 mm. Which is like
taking the stock wheels and adding a 7mm spacer. (Did I say spacer?)

Wrong way around Lou... you'd need to remove material, not add it On

A cam will only give this sort of improvement if you have an aftermarket ecu. Ask Fletch, he's done it. I don't think it was worth 20% though, at least not the cam alone. Mazda have progressively added braces to the car year by year, and they provided for complete alignment flexibility with the user adjustments designed in. spacers
No No, don't misunderstand. Suspension design is a science, and the geometry is very specific. Sticking on spacers completely negates it. Adding more power through a supercharger, turbo etc, or aftermarket shocks (designed for the car) or springs etc will vary the performance while remaining in gene...

spacers
I hope this discussion isn't going to get out of hand. I think you're possibly both right. Maybe the spacers did allow a car to go faster in the hands of an experienced driver. Its sort of missing the point though isn't it? Mazda put a lot of effort into the suspension design, and adding 25mm spacer...

Suspension bushes
Hi Matthew, I used the factory ones. Cost for the rear set was about $450. As the suspension was in bits it wasn't too much of a job, except that I had the old bushes pressed out, the suspension parts stripped and powder coated, and then the new bushes pressed in. That all cost about $100. There is ...

Hi Matthew, I have had the rear bushes done when my car was rebuilt, and I have the front planned. Phil, If you did manage to get a bulk order together, and I've tried this without any response from NZ Club members, the cheapest and best way to freight is Ocean Freight where you pay by the cubic metre. If you had an order value of NZ$1-2k it would probably work out OK. Transit time is about 4 wee...

Grant, Its unlikely that they were intended to produce bass, a drive unit small enough to fit into a headrest (or in this case small enough to be part of a pair in the headrest) is never going to be a bass transducer.
