CAS Maybe?
Hi There, After spending a couple of ours unplugging most of the electrcial connectors I could find, I still have no luck. I did manage to get the diagnostic port to flick me up a code on a small 12v light that I had. It was blinking 2. From what I can see that means it could be the Crank Angle Sens...

Hi Guys, Thanks for the ideas of what to check. I now have a heap of extra things to check and more of an idea of where to look. The car is stashed at a friends place out of town, so I will head out this weekend with the diagrams a photos of what to check and see if I can find the problem and drive ...

Hi Slydit, Thanks for you suggestions. With regard to the injectors the power stayed +12V on both pins even when cranking. We put a "noid" light in place of the injector, and it did not flash when cranking. I will check the earths that you suggested, and verify that they are all OK. I will need to g...

Hi There, I fogot to add that I have put a noid light on, that was how I was able to find out that the injectors were not firing. I will also add that I changed the fuel filter yesterday, as I thought that might be restricting the fuel flow. I can hear and feel the fuel pump running and when I use a...

ECU Compatibility for 1992 NA 1.6 Engine
Hi There, I am having a few issues with my Automatic MX-5 NA. I drove to work on Friday morning, at night it would not start. Cranking well. Fuel getting to Fuel Rail. Good Spark. Fuel Injector resistance is within limits (14 ohm.) It seems that injectors are not firing. As far as I can track down i...

Tyres
Thought I would add to this thread as I am on the lookout for new rear tyres for a 1992 MX-5, with the 1.6 litre engine. Current options under consideration are... Hankook K 415 Yokohama A-Drive Pirelli P6 Any comments as to which one would be the better option, or other better choices? - not a trac...

Which Spark Plugs for a 1992 NA
Hi There, I figure that it is about time to replace the spark plugs, but do not know which brand or model to use. I do not even know what the stock ones are for it, and figure that someone might be able to tell me what these are, or if there is a better after market / upgrade option. I was also wond...

Tyre Size Suggestions
Hi There, I am in need of new tyres for my 1992 MX-5. I have the stock alloy rims and the current tyre size is 185 65 R14. Can I get wider tyres to use on the stock rims, also what width would you suggest? I was thinking about going wider, with a lower profile. I get the general feeling from reading...

Hi John, We had the same issue and solved it in a similar manner. We cleared out all the leaves/dust etc from the top of the drain, then used a drink bottle to put a small amount of water down it. We then worked from the other end, the underside of the car, and pushed a piece of lacing wire, the rea...

The Good Oil
Hi All, I am kinda new to this whole MX-5 thing and wanting to learn a bit more about my car etc. I thought that I would start with the basics, like an oil change, but was wondering how much oil do they take? I have a 1992 1.6 Engine. I am also keen to find out what oil you guys use? Is it worth usi...

Upgrade Complete
Hi All, Just thought that I would give you an update on what I actually did. I decided to upgrade the drivers side light that failed with a semi-sealed beam with a replacable H4 bulb. I did not use a Hella one, I got a Wagner relector unit that cost about $35 and a Narva H4 +50% bulb that cost about...

Headlight Replacements - Upgrades
Hi Out There, One of the headlights has just failed and I am trying to get some advice on the best replacement for it. It looks like a sealed beam unit. Are there better and brighter replacements that I should go for? How much is it likely to cost? If I just replace the blown one, and put a brighter...
