Thank you for your appreciation for us that helped with running the day. I think i started to develop webbed feet standing in the rain for so long running the cornering test.
I have added a few photos mostly of my NC sliding around the track

I should also have mentioned that I have had Toyos on my previous MX5s. I had ToyoT1S on 17 inch rims on mt yellow 94NA, Toyo TiR on 17 inch rims on my yellow 2001 NB. The T1S were very good, the T1R an improvement and it already seems the C1s another step up. No, I don't work for Toyo, I just find ...

new tyres on the NC

Finally after wearing out the original equipment 205/45 x17 Michelins, I have now replaced them with 215/45 x17 Toyo C1S. These are the latest unidirectional tyres from Toyo. The reason for going 215 is 1, they fit, 2, a slightly higher sidewall which doesn't thump on potholes etc, 3, it means the s...

Hi James, The RS NC stock springs are black. I replaced the springs on my NC at 4k to lower and get a "sportier" feel to the handling. Ihave been very happy with the outcome. If that is the original tyres, they have got exceptional wear from them. The original Michelin tyres that came on most early ...

I had Teins on my 2001 NB. They damping was adjustable at the top of the shock by a knob that turned about 20 'clicks'. For the street, I had them set about 3 clicks from soft, so there was plenty of stifness to play with on the track. They were only adjustable for height by taking them apart and res...

Congratulations for biting the bullet!! can you tell me if it is much louder at idle and at what revs can you really start to hear it.
Finally can you tell me what the cost was landed in NZ. The lack of a sporty exhaust noise in mine is really starting to annoy me!!

Although i haven't owned one myself, I do have some experience as my brother owned one from new at the same time as I had a 2001 non turbo. We did do comparisons on a few occasions. The turbo isn't a high boost turbo, so there isn't too much stress on components and should still be very reliable. Fr...

The Miata forum in the USA seems to like the Roadstersport 2 rear muffler the best. Read about it in the link below. As it says, they have taken a lot of time and effort to get it right, so I think that our "local" exhaust companies wouldn't be able to come up with anything near as good. However the...

i only know of your Auto and the Manual one that I owned for about 3 years. I sold it to people in Auckland who joined the MX5 club. In the time I owned it, I never saw or heard of another in NZ. A friend who imports cars and is a club member tried to buy one in Japan about 3 years ago but the aucti...

I have had my NC for a couple of years and would also like a "sportier' exhaust note. I have followed the USA Miata forum on this topic and there is a lot of different opinions re what works best. if you don't get it right, you can end up with a lot of droning or "popping". Some say that removing th...

Hi Grant. Welcome to the wonderful world of NC ownership. My import RS also has the Bose stereo with MEDIA button that does nothing. Although it does play MP3s. Gordon + Skam, thanks for your insightful posts. Gordon when you say that the Toyo's were streets ahead, in what way? Progressive breakaway? grip? ride? tramlining? I'm not after the most grip, even my old Turanza's hang on gamely, which is more a product of the MK2.5's power to tyre size mismatch ...

My previous car was a 2.5 with 17s. I tried other tyres first before I put Toyo T1Rs on. The T1Rs were streets (pun) ahead. I now have a NC and will replace the standard 17in Michelins (poor wet grip) with Toyos soon. I did the foamectomy with some success. I also put more foam in the front bolster ...
