MX5 Audio

Post by chris » Wed Apr 04, 2012 11:53 am

Okay, so I realize the MX5 is not exactly a car built for good sound.. However, I picked up some great little 4" Sony Xplod speakers a while back from Pick A Part for like $4.00 I had an idea, to maybe build a small enclosure for them and chuck them up on the parcel shelf? Or maybe in between the passenger and driver seat?

I'm absolutely stoked with the sounds in my MX5 after putting some 4" speakers in the headrests, and a set of quality kicker component speakers in the doors. I plan to run an amp for the kicker speakers some time and double up the speakers in the head rests and I think with that setup it'll be pretty damn good.

With the roof up or the hart top on the sounds are impressive, but open top driving on the motorway tends to have you cranking them quite a way just to clearly hear what you're playing.
Cool sunroof bro...

I have 4inch in the head rests, 6.5 components in the front and a sub in the boot. All spekers run amps and it sounds great.

I've just got 6's in the front, and a 10' sub in the boot. Sounds awesome and did it on a budget, normal JVC fronts and a 400 RMS JVC sub in the rear. Shakes the whole car if I want it to, would like to eventually have 6.5 components and do something with the headrests.

How are you finding the 4's in the headrests warrior? Did you have to tune the levels for front/back speakers? Have been told not to worry about 4's as it just doesn't work, would be good to hear from someone with them though.

sorry for late reply, each to there own but I like them in the headrests. I just play with the fader depending if the roof is up or down. I have a small amp powering them and think they are well worth it.

I finally got around to it, and I now have a decent Pioneer set up! Although in the head rest the Sony Xplods, and I have to agree... They sound really good :)
