Any Mazda Dealer should have them. They're not too expensive, and if
you're a NZ clubmember ask for 15% off (some dealers will only give 10%)

This old post of mine relates to my NA, but probably the same for a NB:
http://www.mx5club.org.nz/emaillists/nz ... g00776.sht

"The franky bolts are around $20 and the receivers are more like $100
each. You may be able to get them from a wreckers like mazspare in
Auckland or even off someone elses car that doesn't use a hardtop (Swap
the whole trim so you don't leave holes). They are well sort after
though, and don't expect to pay too much less at a wreckers....

Some part numbers I have for the two items are NA01R138XB and
NA02R1310G, but can't remember where these came from or which one is which."

cheers

Try with the part numbers above - or phone Mazda NZ. All Mazda dealers should have access to pretty much any Mazda Part - they can order them in.

Brendon McInnarney is still the senior parts guy (as far as I know) at Mazda, and Glenn Harris is the present MX5 Brand Manager. I'm sure they'd be helpful, and would be interested to know one of their dealers is not being very obliging. At the least, Brendon should be able to tell you where else to get them from locally.

Anyone else know this for a fact? The hardtop is the same, but you're right, the plates may be different. I'm pretty sure the bolts are the same.

I believe the hardtop fittings are the same up 2002. The frankenstein bolts are all the same, but they changed the clips and strikers with the 02 upgrade.
The side and front strikers are subtly different. I got side strikers from Mazspare in Rosebank Rd Avondale fo $50.00 the pair. They had several sets.

Have a look at http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info. ... cts_id/264

You'll not have to pay VAT, but postage will bring the price back up to about 45 pounds again (about $NZ135)

Flick and e-mail to your local Mazda Head Office.

I'm sure the owner of Timaru Mazda would love to know when one of their staff members needs a kick in the pants.

You have to teach Mazda Dealers to love and respect MX-5 owners.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
